Martha Paris, jewelry, sculptures and a lot of art.
Who am I?
I am a dreamer that loves to
transform with my hands.
Born in Bogotá-Colombia, I now reside in Chapel Hill, NC. I earned my Bachelor in Graphic Design from the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano, and General Jewelry, Casting and Setting Workshops, and Jewelry Design from Escuela de Joyería Arte Metal.
For more than 35 years, I have drawn, painted, designed, molded metals, and explored different techniques for creating objects in three dimensions. Light, shadow, color, relief, and texture are aspects that I have explored through my work.
My training in graphic design and my work experience in the advertising medium-enriched my life and my sense of existence. Additionally, the experience of belonging to art schools from a very young age awakened in me that aesthetic sensitivity to form and content.
Now after a long journey, I decided to settle in Chapel Hill, NC. Where for the last two years, I’ve been working full-time at Golden Belt Studios in Durham, NC. At Golden Belt, I have worked with canvases and brushes, pliers, blowtorches, plasticine, wood, and wire to bring my creations to life.
My work has been showcased and well-reviewed in multiple events in the United States and Colombia, being the most recen events the following:
- Center Fest Durham, NC 2019
- Durham Art Walk, Spring & Fall 2016 – 2020
- Art in the Park. Myrtle Beach, SC 2019
- Saturdays at Durham Art Market 2016 – 2018
- Every month on the Third Friday Durham in Golden Belt Studios 2018 – 2019
